further investments in Africa through his vehicle Here Be Dragons (HBD). Shuttleworth invested $10 million (some R75.5m) in a fund focussed on Africa and the Middle East. This follows his 2009 investment in Insparo Asset Management’s Africa and Middle East fund soon after it was launched.
Shuttleworth is the founder of Ubuntu, a popular free operating system for desktops and servers. He leads product strategy and design at Canonical, which sells commercial support for Ubuntu, mainly to large enterprises and governments who deploy it professionally.
